Experience.
Lee Alford's legal experience is extensive.
Immediately after graduating with honors from the University of Texas
School of Law in 1989, Lee Alford accepted a position with
Gardere & Wynne.
With approximately 200 attorneys, it was then the largest law firm in
Dallas County and one of the largest in the State of Texas.
At the Gardere firm, Lee established a reputation as one
of the brightest and hardest-working young lawyers at the firm.
During his tenure at Gardere & Wynne, he specialized in business
litigation and in the defense of personal injury and death cases.
After gaining valuable experience in the "large firm" atmosphere, Lee left
the Gardere firm and became one of four partners in the ten-attorney Dallas
firm of Smith & Moore.
Lee took advantage of the smaller-firm atmosphere to broaden
his experience and his fields of expertise.
Among other fields, Lee developed an interest in family law, an area which has
since become a significant portion of his practice.
By the late 1990s, Lee began to realize that material success in the
competitive Dallas legal market left him somewhat unfulfilled.
He missed the Brazos Valley, and he wanted the opportunity to really
help people in a way that just was not possible from the glass towers
of Downtown Dallas.
By 1998, Lee had re-established the Brazos Valley as his home and was
spending approximately three days per week in Burleson County and the
remainder of the week at his law office in Dallas County.
By the year 2000, Lee was ready to make the plunge. In December, he
resigned from partnership in his Dallas firm, returned home to the
Brazos Valley on a "full time" basis, and took an "of counsel"
position with a Bryan firm.
In May of 2002, D. Lee Alford, P.C. opened its doors for the practice of
law in Bryan, Texas with the goal of providing high-quality legal
services to the residents of the Brazos Valley.
